Hiding In My Craft Room: Crafty Spaces Blog Hop

Welcome to the HIMCR Crafty Spaces Blog Hop!  Did you have a fun time seeing Laurie's space?  I know I did!  Thanks for hopping along to my blog to see my craft room that I hide in.  Well sometimes I get to hide, but not often as you will see in the pictures I took last night!

I recently moved my craft room to the basement.  I am going to try holding my monthly crop in my basement and decided that it would be better to have EVERYTHING at my finger tips when I have that event than to have to carry it down from the attic bedroom.

Besides that...the attic bedroom is H-O-T in the summer months!  So the basement is just the right temperature to craft the nights away!

SO...I don't have everything moved or organized yet.  And I decided to show you all what my room really looks like, rather than clean it up...I'm being real here!

Here is my little craft corner.  I have a 5ft. table for myself. Inks close by as well as a Diet Dr. Pepper!  You will get to see all of the things behind my desk up close.  So here we go!

In my new craft space, Brooke (my 4.5 year old daughter) can have her own space to create what she wants.  And usually she holds on tight to my washi tape collection!  I let her use it...when am I EVER going to use it ALL!

This group of shelves behind my chair is home to some embellishments, some cardstock, some designer papers, adhesives and some tools...basically things I use often but don't want to have them cluttering my desk!

Here is a close up of my messy table!  You know it's a good craft session when you have a little mess to share with the world!

Next you get to peek inside that cabinet that is behind me.  This is where all of my stamps are kept!  You will also see my tote that I use for all of my tools at crops and Stampin' Up! events.  On the middle shelf you will find my retired stamp sets that I just can't part with!

And the top shelf is all of the current Stampin' Up! stamp sets!  Can you believe I have so many...YIKES!!!  But I do earn a lot of them for free, being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator!

Over to my left you will find my scrap drawers.  I really try to use them up!  AND you will see my NEW envelope punch board on that shelf underneath my scraps!  I love that thing!

If you were to sit in my chair, this is what you would see.  It's not a pretty space...it's an un-finished basement that is also a storage facility, laundry room, gym and playroom!  But it works for me!

One of the best things about my new set up is that I can craft while my two year old plays just a few feet away!  I LOVE IT!

I hope that you will continue on our hop and click here to see Jennie's Crafty Space!  So glad that you all stopped by!  Come back Saturday to see more HIMCR goodness!

Hand Stamped Sentiments #167: Sketch

One of my friends and Design Team Sisters over at SSINKspiration, Bree, just started on the Hand Stamped Sentiments Design Team yesterday!  I love this sketch so I had to play along!

Here is the sketch...

And here is my card...

I started this card with a Basic Gray cardstock base and added a Very Vanilla half circle.  I created the circle using the Circles Collection Framelits Dies by Stampin' Up!.  I just stamped the Off the Grid Stamp in Smokey Slate ink and used the distress tool to rough up the edges.

The Witches Brew Washi Tape is one of my favorites!  I used that for the 3 strips along the bottom of the card.  The witch hat image comes from the Best of Halloween Stamp Set.

The candy dots on this card are some of my favorite products!  I ran out of Basic Black ones...so I just used a black Sharpie to color the Very Vanilla ones!  I think I will be doing this a lot with the colors that I don't use.  Black is one of my favorite colors!

Supplies Used
Cardstock: Basic Gray, Very Vanilla
Stamp Sets: Best of Halloween, Off the Grid
Ink: Basic Black, Smokey Slate
Big Shot: Circles Collection Framelits Dies
Tools: Stampin' Distress Tool
Embellishments: Witches Brew Washi Tape, Candy Dots, Neutral
Adhesives: Snail, Dimensionals
Other: Black Sharpie

My Paper Pumpkin: July Kit

While I still wait for my August Paper Pumpkin Kit to arrive, I can't help but wonder if it got sent to 2 incorrect locations because I still hadn't played with my July kit and posted my projects or WHAT?!

So here is what we got in the July Kit...

Supplies enough to make 2 cute banners!  3 mini background pattern stamps and Pool Party and Summer Starfruit ink spots!

When I got the kit in the mail, I knew that I wasn't going to create the banners themselves.  But I wanted to see what I could use the kit contents to make!

My first project was a scrapbook page of my last birthday.  So I guess I did use a banner...but I used it on a layout instead of a cake!

The base of my layout is Tangerine Tango.  I added in a strip of Pacific Point DSP on each side of the layout.  The half circles were create with my 3 patterned stamps, the ink spots from the kit and Whisper White cardstock.  I used the 1-1/4" Circle Punch to punch them out and then cut them in half before gluing them down.

My second project was a cute card!  I wanted to use the other skewers that came with the kit and make a banner but a typical card isn't large enough to spell out "PARTY" or "HOORAY".  So I laid out all of the letters to see what else I could spell.

I stamped the patterned stamps on the white banners to give them a little design.  Then I added in Pacific Point Baker's Twine too!

The "Happy Birthday" sentiment comes from the Remembering Your Birthday stamp set.

For my last project, I wanted to see what else I could spell using these cute circles.  "ROAR" jumped out at me and I thought it would be really cute paired with a little Tangerine Tango image of the lion from the Zoo Babies stamp set!  Am I right?

Practical Scrappers: Frugal Finds - Pencils

Today over at Practical Scrappers we are using Pencils in our Frugal Finds post.

I used a pencil on this card...can you figure out how??

Well...I suppose I will tell you.  I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock, rolled a pencil across my Smokey Slate ink pad and then rolled it over my cardstock.  The pencil I used was one of the fat smooth pencils so there were no lines when I rolled it.

This was a fun technique that I think I will use again soon!

Be sure to stop on by the Practical Scrappers blog today to see what the other Design Team members made using pencils!

Supplies Used
Cardstock: Real Red, Whisper White
Stamp Sets: Lovely as a Tree, A Banner Christmas, ABC-123 Sketch Alphabet and Numbers

Stampin' Up!'s Undefined Stamp Carving Kit

Have you heard of this awesome new product that Stampin' Up! just came out with.  It's a kit to carve your own stamps!!!

Undefined Stamp Carving Kit  #133402  $19.95USD

When I first saw this kit, I wanted it.  But I wasn't sure that I would be good at carving my own stamps.

I have to tell you that the hardest part was coming up with what design I wanted to carve!  After that, it was pretty simple!  You can eaven watch a video about it here.

So my first attempt was this arrow stamp.  It's not perfect by any means but I think that gives it a lot of character and I LOVE IT!

Here it is up close!  If you have any questions, let me know!  It only took a matter of minutes to carve this stamp and start getting it inky!  So easy and so much fun!  And don't worry...there is a refill kit if you want more rubber to carve!

Supplies Used
Cardstock: Bermuda Bay, Whisper White
Stamp Set: Yippie-Skippie, Undefined Carved Arrow
Inks: Smokey Slate, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay, Basic Black
